Many customers often ask us whether we produce powder high-speed steel taps, in fact, we have been producing.
Powder high speed steel（Hereinafter referred to as HSS-PM） tap is a kind of high hardness tap better than the traditional cobalt high speed steel wear degree and hardness, HSS-PM tap hardness can reach 70HRC, can process the workpiece between 35HRC-40HRC hardness. Compared with the more common 6542 ordinary high speed steel tap and M35 cobalt high speed steel tap, it has a larger processing range and better wear resistance.
In the traditional tapping processing, for stainless steel, cast iron and other materials, if you want a better tapping life, M35 cobalt high-speed steel is usually used, and powder high-speed steel taps have better wear resistance than M35 cobalt high-speed steel wire taps.
The production method determines the service life of the HSS-PM tap, although in the production of the tap, the two production methods are the same, but for the material itself, the drilling high-speed steel is made by chemical smelting, and the HSS-PM material is extruded together by high voltage electrostatic. In terms of physical characteristics, there is a great difference between the two, which also determines that the HSS-PM tap has a much higher wear resistance than the traditional high-speed steel. In the case that the traditional 6542 ordinary high speed steel or M35 nut tapping containing drill high speed steel is easy to break , or the service life is not ideal, the powder high speed steel tap can be processed.
At present, the domestic heat treatment process for powder steel is not very immature, so it is necessary to use imported powder high-speed steel material, directly pre-hardened, which can effectively ensure the high hardness and high wear resistance of the powder non-high-speed steel wire tap material itself. Powder high speed steel material, can make spiral tap, extrusion tap, blind hole or through hole characteristics of good tap products, and ordinary high speed wire tap is also a kind of industrial tool for making dies.
